Clinic software for Ghana: what Health Grid does in Accra, Kumasi and elsewhere
Health Grid is a web app for outpatient clinics. It runs in a browser on a laptop, tablet or phone, so a clinic in Accra, Kumasi or a smaller town uses the same system. This page lists what it does today and what it does not do.
A patient visit, step by step
- Front desk searches for the patient or registers a new one with a Health Grid patient ID.
- The patient is added to the clinic queue with a priority.
- A nurse records vitals such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse and weight.
- The clinician opens a consultation, records complaints, examination notes, a diagnosis and a treatment plan.
- A prescription is sent to the pharmacy queue, or a referral is created for another facility.
- Each completed encounter, dispense or referral is charged to the clinic's prepaid wallet at the fee in its billing plan.
Who can see what
Staff accounts are invited by an administrator and linked to specific facilities. A staff member only sees patients connected to the facilities they work for.
For clinics in Accra
Busy urban clinics usually care most about queue flow at the front desk and quick hand-off of prescriptions to an in-house or partner pharmacy. Both happen inside the same app, so the pharmacist sees the prescription as soon as the clinician saves it.
For clinics in Kumasi and the regions
Health Grid works on any device with a modern browser and a data connection. Offline mode covers registration, queue, vitals and consultation drafts only, so check that your mobile data or broadband is reliable during opening hours for dispensing and billing.
What Health Grid does not do yet
- NHIS claims are prepared and tracked, not submitted to NHIA directly; no eligibility checks.
- DHIMS2 monthly export needs your facility's official mapping; direct push needs a configured DHIMS2 account.
- Offline mode covers registration, queue, vitals and consultation drafts only.
- No online wallet top-up; an administrator adds credit.
Questions
Does Health Grid support NHIS claims?
Health Grid prepares NHIS claims from recorded visits, priced only from the official tariff list your facility imports, with manager approval, a preparation export and recorded submission/reimbursement references. It does not submit claims to NHIA directly; you submit through your approved NHIA channel.
Does Health Grid work offline?
Partly. On a facility-controlled device with encrypted offline storage turned on (set up while online), staff can register patients, queue them, record vitals for an open visit and keep consultation drafts without a connection. After a reload with no internet, staff reopen the offline workspace with their offline passphrase (facility access must have been confirmed online within the last 72 hours). Records sync only after the same staff member signs in online again. Dispensing, stock, billing and referrals need a live connection, as do admin pages.
How much does it cost?
Fees are set per facility billing plan in Ghana cedis. See the pricing page for worked examples, then ask us for a quote.
